Quinoa Dal Khichdi in Instant Pot & Traditional pressure cooker (2 Different Ways to cook)

Ingredients:-

  • 1/2cup – White Quinoa
  • 1/2Cup - Rice 
  • 1/2cup - Moong Dal 

Vegetables

  • 1cup - Zucchini chopped (you may use Dudhi/opo/lauki too)
  • 3/4cup - carrots chopped
  • 1cup - chopped potatoes
  • 3/4cup - Chopped capsicum
  • 1/2cup - green peas Matar

Other ingredients

  • 3/4cup – chopped onion
  • 1tsp - ginger paste
  • 1tsp - green chili paste 
  • 1 tsp - grated garlic
  • Himalayan Rock Salt to taste
  • 1tsp - turmeric powder
  • 2tbsp - Ghee or oil
  • 1tbsp - cumin seeds
  • 4 -cloves
  • 1inch - Cinnamon stick
  • 5cup - water

Instructions For:-

Instant Pot Quinoa Dal Khichdi

  • Wash Quinoa, rice, and lentil a couple of times with water and drain all the water. keep it aside.
  • Turn on instant pot on normal saute mode.
  • Heat ghee or oil. Add cumin seeds, cloves, and cinnamon sticks.
  • Let the cumin seeds splutter.
  • Now add ginger, garlic, chili, and onions. Saute for a minute, stirring continuously.
  • Add vegetables, washed quinoa-rice-lentil, water, salt, and turmeric. Mix all ingredients very well.
  • Cover your instant pot with locking lid. Turn off the instant pot.
  • Press the manual button and set the instant pot for 7 minutes under high pressure, vent on sealing position.
  • Once Instant pot beeps and on display screen you see LO:00, turn off the instant pot.
  • Let the pressure release naturally.
  • Open the IP lid. Instant Pot Quinoa Dal Khichdi is ready.
  • Serve it with Papad, Onion, Curd/yogurt, and Pickle.

Quinoa Dal Khichdi in the traditional pressure cooker:-

  • For this method, you will require 1 cup more water.
  • Wash Quinoa, rice, and lentil a couple of times with water and drain all the water. keep it aside.
  • Turn on a stove.
  • Heat ghee or oil in a traditional pressure cooker. Add cumin seeds, cloves, and cinnamon sticks.
  • Let the cumin seeds splutter.
  • Now add ginger, garlic, chili, and onions. Saute for a minute, stirring continuously.
  • Add vegetables, washed quinoa-rice-lentil, water, salt, and turmeric. Mix all ingredients very well.
  • Cover your pressure cooker with locking lid.
  • take 4 whistles.
  • Let the pressure release naturally.
  • Open the lid. Mix well. Quinoa Dal Khichdi is ready.
  • Serve it with Papad, Onion, Curd/yogurt, and pickle. Enjoy!
